The Power of Micro-Decisions: Transform Your Life

”Take the risk or lose the chance” – I came a long with this phrace on a social media with along a video where woman explained, that how we tempt to use too much of our brains capacity on the things that really would only need simple ”yes or no”- kind of an answer. The hair grows back, you can always change to color of you nails – just giving few simple examples. If you can reverse it, you should not give it too much of a weight or overthinking it.

This frace is also one of the most well-known phrases when it comes to the courage to seize the moment before it slips away. In life and career, the best opportunities often require immediate action, as waiting almost always leads to regret.

And what we regret the most when we are older? The things we let slip away from our reach. We will lose the 100% of the changes we don’t take, and that itself should drive you towards more faster decision making  and action towards what ever life  brings in front of you.Personally if I have had this kind of moments where Im in between what should I do,  I have always made a question to myself; Would I later regret it, if I’m now saying no this opportunity/thing/event? Would this later on turn into thought that damn, I really should have been act on it?

If there is no harm to anyone, Im gonna go for it. This happened twice already when changing the country, with taking the dog(s).

Even when covid did hit, even then when I weighted should I go or should I stay, the answer was easy; I didn’t come this far to only come this far. Going back to Finland would have been wrong in so many ways, against my hearts desire.

Was it easy to start a new life in a new country, with world wide pandemic strongly hitting on? For sure not, more like trying to climb on the tree upside down. But was it worth of it? Surely!  The challenges faced where not all needed or requested, but along of them I were forced to face what works and what doesn’t – learning to grow  out from the old while gaining more knowledge about the new version of myself.

Sometimes I’m caught with the thought of was this all even necessary, doing It the hard way. Especially as the only thing that was sure, was the fact that staying more right than going. And that kept me going. Life has had also a magical way of working out, even on a situations where the deadline has almost got me and failure has been with in a hands reach.

And what kept me going? The fact that it would be more bittersweet now to call it quits. To give up.

Life keeps bringing up opportunities daily, sometimes small, even micro versions and sometimes bigger ones. We just tend to pay more attention to the bigger changes or opportunities. However, the smaller ones can act as catapults to the bigger ones to come, and this is called the butterfly effect – small, everyday actions and micro-opportunities can trigger massive, compounding changes over time. By paying attention to minor choices, unexpected conversations, or tiny shifts in your daily routine, you build momentum that naturally catapults you toward major life transformations.

A single small ”yes” to a low-stakes request can lead to a connection, a skill, or a habit that opens a major door months later.

We often ignore micro-moments because they do not feel life-altering in the present. Recognizing them shifts your situational awareness, turning random occurrences into intentional stepping stones. Big changes require heavy effort and carry high mental resistance. Micro-opportunities allow you to test new directions with low risk and high adaptability.

Thats why its good to not spent that much time over-analyzing smaller decisions and keep more space in your so called hard drive for the bigger decisions. If its reversible and low-risk, just do it what feels right now.  And with the bigger decisions, if possible, sleep through the night and take your time to think it through, would this thing be something that you would regret, if not taking action now?

Getting into new situations will only make you gain more; more experience, more knowledge and new perceptions. Everything mentioned will also bring more clarity to your life, as then you also know better what works for you, in many aspects. You will also come a bit more out from your comfort zone, which allows the better changes too to came along and thats how your life starts to adjusts itself for the better.
