No matter how balanced our life is, its refreshing to take time to time a little bit time off from our everyday surroundings.
As the years have been full of changes, I have not personally been seeing the need for little getaway – not until I started to notice that I’m not making that good recover anymore. My mind being a little bit more blurry than it suppose to be, just tackling down those daily tasks. Noticing that I have not been that mindful on what I have doing. Resting, but not recovering – especially mentally.
I have also come to the conclusion that I’m in need for a holiday. A feeling that I have not had this strongly for a while. When realizing this, I started to think more about it this aspect as I’m well aware of it that to be and stay more productive, some time off is needed time to time. Then I also asked a quite important question from myself; When did I actually have my last trip, like an actual holiday? Without any work related things involved?
And then, on that moment, I started to think this more through out. It was little scary to notice that I have had my latest holiday in end of the year 2022. And to be clear, this is not something to be bragged about, more of just a realization how neglected my own needs for decent time offs have been past few years.
Even if there have been plenty of changes through out the years (In living arrangements, work, relationships etc) and while aiming for more steady daily life, you should never take that as an excuse to not to take some time off for yourself. Like really taking our self out from everyday life, even if its only few days in a different city. Its not always about being in other side of the world for gaining the clarity and peace of mind, its more about learning to take a decent break.
Being selfish on this is really what keeps you on track, our nerves systems also are needing some resets time to time and even doing a little stay-cation can do wonders.
Change of an environment not only take sour minds off from our everyday life but also it does so for our nervous system too. That is why we feel so much more relaxed when being away from home, even for a shorter period of the time.
When also getting more distance to our daily life, we will gain better point of view to the whole picture. What works in this moment, and what habits or things we have already outgrown. As we change through out the years, so does our life, so for that reason too, its only healthy to pause time to time and taking time for new experiences, new adventures. By doing so, we don’t only gain more memories but also information on where are we at now.
And where we want to go, what is what we may want to add on to what we have now, what are we enjoying now and what would we like add up to our daily life to make it feel even more smooth, more us.
It is a fact that we perform better when well rested and that also goes for the mental side of life. With clear, rested mind we see more solutions and opportunities than problems or obstacles. We are also more happier as we have more capacity to go through tasks of any kind.
And as we do better, life also feels easier.
