Unlearning is the highest form of learning

Today it did hit me; almost the end of January. At first, I have to admid I felt like do I even have done anything, but on the same minute the reality check came. As actually, I did start my year already strong, starting with adjusting my own mindset to stick with what I already agreed with myself that im aiming for this year. Clear vision, steady progress.

As the last year was more about rebuilding and relearning, also it was about recovering. Recovering from a big loss, learning to let go on the things that I cant change. Learning to lean even more towards the wisdom I already carry within, closing doors that no longer serve me nor my goals in life.

When I really take a good look to last year, even thought it did take a lot from me, it also did give me a lot, too. Good reminder was when i was butting together the highlight reel of the year 2022, which actually reminded me that no matter how hard the beginning of the year actually was bot physically but mentally too, still there was so much good moments involved through out the year. Those small sparks of joy that kept me running while recovering.

I have already wrote about changing your mindset to change your life, and lately I have also started to see the progress on my own life too – yes, indeed the permanent changes wont happen overnight. If I would need to highlight one thing over others, what comes to my own growth, i would say that it would be reflecting.

And to be more exact, reflecting on more how I have been reacting to things and others. Why something might have triggered me, or why some things might have frozen me down. What made me jumping from the joy, and has that thing always been so joyful? What are the things that I actually need to focus on to be able to grow and evolve more. And understanding too, that there needs to be time in between the learning and actual progress to really letting everything to sink in.

Past molds us, both in good and also in bad ways, but its our own choice how we really work things through. The old behaving patterns we might have been learned at the time in order to survive from that stage of our life, might not be anymore so valid and even might block us from the new blessings to come.

Its like running a new softa to your own inner hard drive, removing the bugs that caused those little hiccups for the progress while stopping you from reaching to your full potential. And yet again, change doesnt happen over night nor it aint so easy as pressing the reset button, but the more commit you are for the changes the more easier it becomes to stay on track.

Unlearning the patterns that you have been repeating years, decades or even maybe your whole life, can be tricky, especially if you dont have a clear sight on what are the things that actually are keeping you on hold on this very moment. Most of us are able to spot the patterns of ”im acting like this because of this” but what did happen in the past, belongs into the past. You can take the lesson, but repeating the same behavior or thinking pattern will not make those needed changes on your present life, especially if you dont have anymore even the same surroundings.

Thats why it has been a game changer for me to really take the time whenever i have had a conflict on my life, and really reflect the.things on my own side. Why this certain thing has been affecting, and in what way. And what can I learn from this all.

Step by step, small changes at the time. By the end of the last year I really felt the swift, I felt the growth. There was so much more understanding towards myself, yet still I am gently pushing myself to keep on going, this is only a beginning.
